Mother's Day Celebration
On May 7th Friends of Scott held its annual Mother's Day Celebration. This year's event was held at Rady's Children's Hospital. Mothers were treated to a nice dinner while their children made them special gifts, using craft materials donated by Royal Scrap Booking. Friends of Scott honored mothers with a nice gift and flowers.

Friends of Scott volunteers share their joy of reading. Our goal is to help young children discover the joy of reading and to help them experience the magic of books. Children choose and keep the books that are read to them, so they can take it with them, wherever they go, on their long journey ahead. Many thanks for our book sponsor, Sempra Energy!

"It was a late night in October of 2007; I was restless and found it impossible
to fall asleep. I figured I'd channel surf until I dozed off. Except, one particular
television program grabbed my attention. I found my attention glued to a late night
show about St. Jude's Hospital. I was touched by the young faces I was seeing, and
felt compelled to do something similar in San Diego. The very next morning I did
an online search and found the Friends
of Scott Foundation. One e-mail later, I was set to read to cancer patients at Rady's
Children's Hospital. From that day on, I've been hooked! Being a part of this foundation
has changed my life and the way I see it. I'm touched by the kindness and patience
of every child I meet, and it's amazing how just their smile brightens my day. The
challenges they face remind me of how trivial my problems are. My time volunteering
has enlightened me, challenged me, excited me, and most of all it's positively changed
me. I gratefully owe it all that restless night last October."

Cruise for the Cause
Join Xavier the X-Man at the 6th Annual Cruise for the Cause – Blood & Bone Marrow Drive Car Show on Saturday, August 16th from 10am to 3pm at Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista. Stop by to donate blood and join the National Bone Marrow registry!
