Winter 2023 Newsletter

Friends of Scott Foundation Winter Newsletter: Highlights for 2023. Help Children with Cancer & their Families: Prom 2023! This year, we were thrilled to resume our annual 'Unforgettable Prom,' for children who are battling cancer at Rady Children's Hospital and surrounding hospitals from Imperial Valley to Riverside Counties. A festive event named 'Viva Ia Vida' was this year's prom theme held at the Del Mar Social. It was a 'night to celebrate life' with non-stop dancing, eating and so much more. A highlight of the night was the red-carpet walk, where everyone cheered on the kids. Of course, there was a prom court. It was a magical night filled with hope, dreams, and inspiration!', an assortment of images showing off the participants of the Prom 2023 event at prom. Feliz Dia Del Niöo! Happy Kids' Day! The Friends of Scott Foundation, along with Realtor Rosamaria Acuna made a special delivery of festive goodie bags for the children at Rady Children's Hospital on May 1 in honor of Feliz Dia Del Nihos Day! The day recognizes the importance of childhood, and the amazing things children can achieve especially during their challenging time in the hospital. As the kids celebrate this week, we wish them a healthy recovery and want them to know they are loved. As always, we are reminded of the legacy Scotty left us. Share love and kindness. Thank you for being a friend to children with cancer. A colloage of images, as well as the flyer, from the Feliz Dia Del Nihos Day. Holiday Giving, multiple pictures of the children and families who attended Holiday Giving giving and reciving gifts. Amy Schneider Day! The Friends of Scott Foundation was happy to announce that our San Diego County Chairwoman, Supervisor Nora Vargas, proclaimed 'Amy Schneider' Day! Congratulations to Amy Schneider for being presented with this well-deserved proclamation! Amy was one of Scotty's nurses and was a steadfast beacon for him and has been for so many others throughout her 37 years as a pediatric oncology nurse. Her input and caring approach to all patients is remarkable, especially for the teenagers. We have heard countless stories Of teens saying something like, 'l just wanted to be left atone. I didn't need anyone's help' only to be coaxed into joining SOMFAB and attending our Unforgettable Prom by Amy saying, 'Come on out to our gathering ... kids your age ... it will be fun.' They'd go, they'd have fun and BAM, they are hooked. She has given them a support system and so many memories that they have all shared together. We are so very grateful and blessed to have you as a friend. Photos form Amy Schneider reciving a plaque for all her hard work and efforts. Thank You! Thank you to all of our wonderful community of sponsors, donors and amazing volunteers for another successful year! NOTE FROM CARMEN DELGADILLO (SCOTT'S MOTHER ) The holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year. It is a time to remind us of what to be grateful for, and things to look forward to.
